Emacspeak on M1 apple silicon

Hi,

Has anyone managed to get meads and emacspeak working on a M1 based mac?

I have tried using homebrew in x86 mode and installed the usual packages that are required.but i just get lots of crashing and no audio output.

Looking for pointers on whether anyone has got this to work.
