I would also like to add that it is possible to change the sample size of
the SoftOSS Mixer down, to say the same rate as Viavoice outloud (8kHz if
I remember correctly).  Music etc would sound BAD but at least it might 
have a better chance of working without hoggin all the cpu.  Having said that
there are many cheap pci sound cards that can be had, so why bother?
