make sure that voice lock mode is actually turned on
--otherwise setting personality will have no effect.
Also, for hiding the speaker you may be able to use the
dictionary feature as a quick solution --if the speaker is
unambiguously marked up that is.
So:
if you consistently have
<bishop/> you could define a pronunciation in that document
for <bishop/> to be silence.
