Emacspeak cannot complete the "make install" process because of the mpg123. el module?

When attempting to install from the latest github code, I am getting the following error during the "make install" step:

Symbol’s value as variable is void: mpg123-mode-map

This happens when Emacspeak attempts to byte-compile the mpg123. el module.

Any ideas as to what may be going on?
