No speech with espeak on Fedora 24

Hi

Can anyone please help me get my Emacsspeak installation to speak using ESpeak on Fedora 24?

I am very new to Emacspeak, although not to Emacs. I've recently installed Fedora 24 on a VMWare virtual machine on a Windows laptop, then installed the standard versions of ESpeak, Emacs and Emacspeak from the repository. Installed versions are:

espeak 1.48.03
emacs 25.0.95
emacspeak 40.0

I export DTK_PROGRAM=espeak and run emacspeak from a terminal window. Emacs loads normally but I get no speech. I have tested the Emacspeak ESpeak server via TCL and also by running that program directly from the command line. Both produce speech output.

I have also tried adding /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/emacspeak/servers to my PATH, but with no better results.

Below is the *Messages* buffer content after Emacspeak startup.
