Ok. Thanks for all the information. I will look into eSpeak when we have 
the beta of RHEL 5 to play with. I haven't worked with it yet. I've heard 
its based on Fedora Core 6. We also offer Emacspeak to students on Solaris 
8 with doubletalk LT. so when we upgrade that OS to Solaris 10 we'd want 
it availible on that platform also. Hopefully eSpeak would work with 
that setup. I'm working on the Solaris 10 stuff in some of my time.

I wonder why red hat doesn't get a more current version of emacspeak to 
package with their distro, RHEL? Hmnn... Its obviously being maintained 
upstream and all.
