Current wearable technology is largely inaccessible to the everyday user. Many systems that exist today are expensive, highly proprietary, and not designed for all-day use. To remedy this, Charmed Technology™ is proud to introduce the CharmIT™ Developer's Kit. The CharmIT™ is built on the PC/104 specification, which has been an industry standard for embedded computing for nearly ten years. There are hundreds of companies that manufacture a wide variety of PC/104 hardware, and the majority of components are low power and ruggedized. Available commercial wearable systems today can cost $5000 or more, while offering little that would attract a non-industrial user. The CharmIT™ Developer's Kit is lower cost ($2000), low power (approximately 7 watts) and offers enough computing power for most everyday wearable tasks. A standard CharmIT™ kit consists of:
Charmed Technology™ believes in open source, not only in software but in hardware. To that end, we are releasing all plans and specifications necessary to build your own CharmIT™ kit from scratch. This information is being released to the public for personal use only; we are currently investigating appropriate licenses.
